You’ve probably never heard of him, but if you’ve seen Lone Survivor or wished you were a U.S. Navy SEAL chances are you would have seen Ken Wilson’s eyewear. Thats because back in the mid 90’s Ken pioneered and later patented the use of aluminum in creating the worlds first aluminum eyewear brand, Gatorz.
Fast forward 20+ years and Ken is back with the aim of creating the ultimate aluminum brand by combining the strengths of his previous brands (Gatorz and Liquid Eyewear) into a single brand, Fast Metal.
Like Gatorz, Fast Metal frames are based on 7075 T6 aluminum, an alloy that has the strength of many steels whilst being able to retain aluminum’s lightweight qualities. Fast Metal frames push the boundaries further by using a custom 7 barrel assembly for an even stronger hinge mount.
The combination of 7075 T6 frames and a new and improved hinge assembly is the perfect example of Ken taking aspects of what works and improving it.
The benefit to you? A frame that is durable and adjustable.
Regardless of the marketing hype you read, many sunglass brands utilize off the shelf lenses and colors to keep costs down. These lenses offer a lower level of performance in terms of light transmission, distortion, safety and generally can't be replaced if damaged.
Fast Metal lenses are the complete opposite.
For starters the lenses are not off the shelf, they are custom designed using high grade 9 base 2.0MM polycarbonate. The thicker, stronger material allows the lenses to be raked (curved) more in the frame without any increase in distortion as well as pass the important ANSI Z87.1 safety standard.
Up until now you were out of luck if you wanted a removable lens that was safety rated housed in an aluminum frame. Now, with Fast Metal's patent pending lens mount you can quickly swap lenses to suit the job at hand. It's a simple yet effective system that once you've tried it, you'll wonder how you lived without it.
Thanks to the properties of 7075 aluminum Fast Metal glasses are fully adjustable!
If the glasses feel too tight around your ears, your primary adjustment should be to the front frame. Hold the frame in both hands and carefully flex the frame outward gently. Make a number of small adjustments checking the fit each time to see if the desired fit has been achieved. Use Caution: Bending the frames too much or too quickly can result in dislodging of the lenses or distortion of the frame.
If needed, a second adjustment can be made to the narrow end of the eyewear temples. Gently grasp each side temple with one hand and make slight adjustments, checking for desired fit and comfort each time. Make similar adjustments to each side to preserve symmetry.
Fast Metal provides 4 lens choices. ANSI Z87.1 certification and full UV protection are standard.
Currently Fast Metal offers 4 frames expanding to 10 in time.
All Fast Metal glasses come with one year manufactures warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
